There's not normally much to be gained from watching I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here! It’s just a rather cruel spectator sport, on which stars on the wane or desperate D-listers perform like caged animals for a last hit of the fame high.

But this year’s show, while no less prurient than its predecessors, has held up a mirror to one particularly distressing aspect of modern culture that all females, young and old, face on a daily basis: the revenge of the Barbie woman.
